The most urgent priority need on the ground right now is for shelter and warmth. Below is a list of resources on donating tents - Please keep in mind that tents should be 'winterized' and water-proof, accomodate at least 5-8 people and where possible, should have some bathroom facility

The following dedicated organizations have set-up special URLs on our request for donating online to earthquake relief to provide shelter and winterized bedding at this critical juncture:

  1. Both CARE and IRC have the capacity, expertise and proficiency to buy and deliver the critical supplies in a very short time.
  2. Both organizations specialize in disaster relief and have been in existence for over 60 years.
  3. Most importantly, these two organizations have a large international footprint, which gives them the ability to expand their relief effort exponentially as the need demands.

Note: The window to save the effected people in the devastated region is very short - barely three weeks or up to November 10, 2005. We strongly urge you to please click on their website addresses above and donate generously NOW.  Your donations will be tax-deductible in the United States and may also be in other countries. ALSO please note that your donation to CARE and IRC may be eligible for matching funds by your employers so do let them know.
